CAROLE ROBBERSON
The Art Pad is the creative project of artist and teacher, Carole Schatz Robberson. Carole studied art at Grinnell College in Iowa and The University of Wisconsin in Madison. Jobs in graphic design, medical illustration, darkroom photography, and gallery sales provided valuable work experience after college, but it was through motherhood that Carole found the fun side of art and the rewards of teaching. After a few years of on-the-job training in public schools, Carole taught after-school art classes at J's Art Studio and 4 years of K-1 art at Solomon Schechter Academy in Dallas. Before moving with her family to Austin in January of 2005, Carole established the art program for 1st -8th grade students at Torah Day School of Dallas and taught art classes in her home, The Art House.

ISMAEL CAVAZOS
With an update to Alexander Cozens' The Cozens Method entitled The Cavazos Method, Ismael
Cavasos created a new pair of glasses through which to see the art world. This has given way to
whole new approaches to painting and carving! In painting, picking up where Jackson Pollock left
off, Ismael has created the Universal Painting Project, finding images in drip paintings of his
own as well as those of Pollock. In sculpture, Ismael finds himself the first artist in the world to carve peanuts as an artform. Between selling photography at the Stash and Art In A Nutshell
at Gomi, one can catch up with the artist at one of his exciting Scribble Sessions mostly in Austin but also in Houston.

Kris Dunham
Ever since she was a little girl Kris Dunham new her life needed to involve art. Whether drawing a well-portioned diagram or doodling on her homework, she loved art and thought it only made sense that she follow her passion. She went to college at Rochester Institute of Technology for graphic design and illustration. After graduating she felt like a piece of her art future was missing. While still in love with art, she felt she loved it ALL and therefore couldn’t find a focus. Thankfully, she found out that she could stay at RIT and get her masters in teaching. Teaching became her muse and focus. Now Kris specializes in digital art and teaches at Gullett Elementary. She is excited to be a part of Austin’s art-loving community

Katharine Turner Mays
Using a complicated sequence of glazes to create luminous paintings, Katharine employs the same techniques used by Rembrandt and other Old Masters from this period. Kate is passionate about passing on this not so well known art form and has been doing so here in Austin for the past eight years, at various Studios and Art Schools. Having studied under the great Dr. David Cranswick in London, he told her to paint like this for five years and then she’d be ready to pass it on- and that’s what she did. She currently exhibits pieces for the Bishop of Austin, at The Pastoral Centre Sacred Art Gallery.
